Meet the Founder
Dominique Cowdrey
ABOUT
Dominique grew up in Dar es Salaam, immersed in the landscapes of East Africa, where a natural sensitivity to rhythm, movement, and stillness was shaped from an early age.
Her connection to the region runs through generations on both sides of her family, with her father’s side based in Kenya from the early 20th century, where they established their lives and work within the region. On her mother’s side, her family has long-standing roots in Tanzania, creating a connection that extends across both countries. Together, this forms a deep and enduring relationship with the land - one that continues to inform the way she lives and works today.
This early environment laid the foundation for her approach to wellbeing, shaped not through structure, but through experience; an active outdoor life and an introduction to yoga at home, where movement and stillness existed side by side.
Over time, this understanding was carried into her work, including years spent teaching in London and internationally, where she worked with clients across yoga, breath-work, reformer Pilates, and strength-based disciplines.
Through The Lilac Roller, Dominique brings this experience back to the landscapes that shaped her - curating thoughtful, high-touch experiences that feel both grounding and expansive, set within some of the world’s most exceptional natural environments.
Dominique can’t wait to share these extraordinary places and experiences with you!
A big part of Dominique’s childhood was spent between Kenya and Tanzania with her family, growing up close to nature and the rhythm of the outdoors; something that’s stayed with her ever since.

The Practice
Yoga is a daily return to presence, a space to reconnect breath, body and awareness. It is both discipline and release, shaping the way I move through life and the foundation of the experiences I create through The Lilac Roller
